Lunch. I used to pack it. But now I can’t go without eating out. I need that break in the day. As for daily dining choices, it’s all about diversity.
For example, here’s how this week’s lunch schedule has looked:
Monday – Bobby Van’s Steakhouse
Had the Lobster Cocktail and Sliced, Openfaced Steak Sandwich with Fries. Pretty good. Did some nice people watching as well.
Tuesday – Pizza Palace
Here’s how I described Pizza Palace to Bobby Jenks:
Me: I went to the shadiest food place ever today. I will never forget it. Pizza Palace. They served: pizza, kabobs, Indian food, Peruvian chicken, fish and chips and had a buffet.
Bobby Jenks: Hahahaha, that’s called fusion.
Had pizza and wings. I was hesitant to try anything else. Edible, but I won’t be going back.
Wednesday — The Source
Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant at the Newseum. We got there early and I was looking extra sharp, so I was expecting a nice table near the floor-to-ceiling windows. Seriously, there was no one on the second floor, but the hostess still stuck us against the wall on the opposite side of the windows. Then we watched as they seated every other group near the windows. I cry ageist profiling. It was ridiculous.
The food was quite good though. Had the Scallop & Shrimp Sui Mai with Shanghai Curry Lobster-Uni Emulsion and the Soft Shell Crab “Po Boy” Sandwich with Pineapple Slaw and Yuzu-Miso Vinaigrette. Pretty fantastic.
Service was crappy. But I do have a crush on one of the waitresses there.
